Groton Turtle Conservation was created as a result of witnessing the abundance and variety of turtle species in Groton and the high incidents of turtle mortality and injury on Groton roadways. Inspiration was taken from learning more about the incredible biology and behavior of turtles and by witnessing the many citizens who stop traffic to assist turtles safely across Groton roadways.

The Groton Turtle Conservation website was created by Groton Girl Scout Cadette Troop 66109 with two Senior Girl Scouts. This website is one of the turtle community projects being undertaken on behalf of local turtle conservation. The Girl Scouts worked with guidance from Darcy Donald and other leaders in Groton Turtle Conservation. We hope the website will be enjoyed by many who wish to help with the conservation of our local turtle friends. Please see our turtle conservation project page, for information about other exciting project happenings.
